Area Organization Celebrates 20 Years Helping Reynoldstown

(WABE) - It's one of the oldest African American neighborhoods in Atlanta
Reynoldstown bounded by Moreland Ave on the east, I-20 on the south, Pearl St on the west and DeKalb Ave on the north.
Young Hughley Jr. is CEO of Resources for Residents and Communities.
He says Reynoldstown has always had a strong civic association but its taken joint efforts to combat many of the neighborhood woes:

((we were able to bring investment into the community, number one we were able to stabilize over 280 owners occupied houses for people mostly on a fixed income and we were able to work with them in terms of crime, drugs and prostitution you can't make it go away but we did decrease it-))

Young says through the use of stimulus money and a homeownership center there's even more opportunity to continue building and renovating single family homes.
