Post Season Awards For Atlanta Dream
ATLANTA, GA
(WABE) -
Mary Nell Meadors has been coaching for nearly 4-decades and admits being named the WNBA coach of the year is her highest honor:
((oh it's the best, there are a lot great coaches in this league...I did not do this alone, it took our entire organization))
An organization that only won 4 games last season but what a difference a year makes.
This season, the team made the playoffs and Meadors says every player had a role in winning 18 games.
One of those players is Angel McCoughtry who was named rookie of the year.
Meadors says McCoughtry stepped in for injured star Chaminque Holdsclaw:
((her being rookie of the year speaks for everything, who stepped and put 20 points on the board every night and played defense...it was Angel McCoughtry))
Meadors is the first WNBA coach to win the award in the first two years of the franchise
