Avoiding Harmful UV Rays and Skin Cancer
By spending too much time in the sun, ultraviolet rays can be dangerous
WABE's Rose Scott has this report on skin cancer:
According to the CDC it's the most common form of cancer.
Too much exposure to UV rays can age the skin prematurely and that's a cause of skin cancer.
Dr. Bruce Feinberg is president of the Georgia Cancer Specialist.
He wants people to practice prevention in order to avoid skin cancer treatment:
((that sun exposure before 10am and after 4pm is safer but still should be addressed with caution))
If there's some confusion as to what's an effective sunscreen lotion Dr. Feinberg won't tell you what brand to buy but does suggest:
((then using a SPF of 30 in order to get the maximum amount and using it with some frequency))
Keep in mind the sun isn't the only source of harmful UV rays tanning beds and sun lamps also culprits.
Dr. Feinberg says there are some symptoms to be on the lookout for:
((this is going to be a skin blemish, something that' persistently red or won't scab basically a sore that's not healing))
At that point, Dr. Feinberg says the only sure way to know you may have cancerous spots is to consult with your doctor.
