Six More Atlanta Eagle Patrons Join Federal Lawsuit
The addition brings the number of plaintiffs to 28. The amended lawsuit also names 35 police officers as defendants.
Dan Grossman is part of the legal team representing the Atlanta Eagle patrons. Recently, he says, the city has discussed settling the case. He says under current circumstances, that's unlikely.
"They continue to deny basic facts, such as the fact there was a search at all," said Grossman. "So, with that attitude, there's really no way to settle a case with a party who doesn't yet admit they did anything wrong."
Atlanta Police stormed the Eagle after two complaints of lewd conduct and drug use. They searched more than 60 customers, but found no drugs. Officers did arrest eight employees on code violations.
During a trial last week, the city dropped charges against five of the employees. An Atlanta Municipal Court judge found the remaining three not guilty.
