Mayor Reed's police chief search committee
Today, Reed and his transitions co-chairs, Lawrence Ashe and Lisa Borders, focused on the process and members of committees searching for police and fire chiefs.
Two search firms, Russell Reynolds and Boardwalk Consulting, have agreed to help those committees for free. The firms will search nationwide for potential police and fire chiefs. They will give those resume to each committee. Through research and interviews, the committees will recommend 12 semi-finalists for each position.
Those suggestions then go to Reed's transition team. It's a group of 18 people. From the semi-finalists, the team will pick 5 finalists for each position by the end of April. Mayor Kasim Reed will make the final decision.
