Tyler Perry donations to 2 Atlanta aid groups ATLANTA, GA (WABE) - Some area residents without jobs will rely on aid organizations this holiday season. Two of them received donations today from Atlanta-based media mogul Tyler Perry.

Perry gave Hosea Feed the Hungry and the Atlanta Community Food Bank each a check for 75 thousand dollars. Hosea spokesman Andy McDill says the money fills the gap for its upcoming holiday dinner for people in need.

MCDILL: "Right now, we're still lacking about 200 turkeys for Thanksgiving. So, we're going to be able to make up the difference with this great donation by Tyler Perry."

Food Bank founder and executive director Bill Bolling is also using the money to help people in shelters and elsewhere have a traditional Thanksgiving meal.

BOLLING: "sweet potatoes and green beans and stuffing and so forth. So, we know we're going to help a lot of families in the Atlanta area."

Before writing and directing popular plays, movies and TV shows, Perry was homeless and benefited from aid organizations.
