Atlanta
Early voting begins in runoff elections
ATLANTA, GA
(WABE) -
Today, early voting began in many of the area's runoff elections including the one for Mayor of Atlanta.
WABE's Charles Edwards reports
Downtown at Pryor Street, retiree Zeda Sartar says she voted for Mary Norwood just like she did in general election.
SARTAR: "Mary has been my friend for about 20 years. Not because of friendship but because I know what she does and how she goes into the community and works and I know how she's there for people."
Sartar and Norwood were community activists when they met. Back then, she says Norwood helped her neighborhood fight off demolition plans for Charlie Brown airport.
However, Reggie Noble says she's never seen Norwood in her Central Park neighborhood. This is Noble's 2nd time voting for Kasim Reed for Mayor. The hair consultant likes that Reed has local and state political ties.
NOBLE: "Because I think we need to address our problems and issues with the state. We need to deal with our water, our infrastructure. We need to deal with our state highways and our city streets. Everything needs to connect."
Early voting ends Friday.
