Sources Say US Attorney Appointment Could Come This Week
WABE Legal Analyst Page Pate says people close to the selection process believe Yates is currently favored to take the permanent position.
"Sally Yates seems to be the leading candidate at this point. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that she's in the office and has been for some time."
Pate says the other finalist is Jeff Berhold, an Atlanta attorney currently in private practice. Berhold has also worked in the public sector as a federal prosecutor in the eastern district of Virginia.
Those familiar with the process believe the Obama administration could name a replacement as early as this week.
