Will California Same-Sex Marriage Ruling Affect Georgia's Ban? A Conversation with Emory Law Professor Robert Schapiro
ATLANTA, GA
(WABE) -
In a split ruling on Tuesday, February 7th, a panel of the 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals threw out California's Proposition 8, the same-sex marriage ban approved by voters in 2008. Georgia has a gay marriage ban written into its state constitution. It was approved by voters in 2004. But Robert Schapiro, the interim dean at Emory University's School of Law, doubts the latest California ruling will have an immediate effect in Georgia. He spoke with WABE's Denis O'Hayer.
