Denis O'Hayer Recalls Courthouse Shootings ATLANTA, GA (WABE) - Five years on March 11th, the city of Atlanta was literally brought to a standstill. Brian Nichols was being escorted to trial for a rape charge. He escaped from a deputy and went on a killing rampage. Then a political reporter for WXIA 11 Alive television station, Denis O'Hayer was downtown on another news assignment. O'Hayer was one block away when a barrage of gun shots sounded.
