Atlanta
"Eagle Eight" Found Not Guilty
However, the city's case appeared to unravel early on when the lead witness--Atlanta Police Officer B.E. Bridges--incorrectly identified several of the defendants. Defense witnesses also contradicted police testimony, saying they didn't see nude dancing at the club.
The prosecution ultimately dismissed charges against all but three of the men. Atlanta Municipal Court Judge Crystal Gaines said the city failed to prove the remaining charges beyond a reasonable doubt.
"So on all three, I am going to find them not guilty" said Gaines.
Richard Ramey is the Atlanta Eagle's co-owner.
"We want to start bonding our relationship with the City of Atlanta Police. We support them. We appreciate their support in our community in protecting us. And we're just so very happy with the outcome of today's trial," said Ramey.
Meanwhile, a federal civil rights lawsuit against the city and APD will go forward.
