Calculator Simplifies Healthcare Subsidy ATLANTA, GA (WABE) - The minds at Georgia State University's Health Policy Center have developed a simple, six-question online calculator.

Bill Custer, a professor at GSU's Institute of Health Medicine, says he and his colleagues wanted to simplify the subsidy process.

"We developed a calculator to help employers understand whether they were eligible for the subsidy, and give them some idea of the size of the subsidy they'd be eligible for," said Custer.

By answering the six questions, the calculator factors the number of employees, total hours worked, and then compares the figures to requirements based on the healthcare reform law and IRS tax codes.

If employers don't qualify for a subsidy, the calculator reads "zero." Otherwise, it gives an actual dollar amount for the subsidy.
