Governor, State Education Officials Lobby Obama Administration
Georgia's cut could be as much as $400-million.
Wednesday, Gov. Perdue, state Superintendent Cathy Cox and other state education officials will meet with federal reviewers in Washington about Georgia's application. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the purpose of the meeting is to ensure the state can attain goals it set forth in its submission.
"Race to the Top" winners will be announced next month. If Georgia loses this first bid, the state can apply for a second round to be given out this summer.

A few weeks ago, Georgia learned it's one of 16 states named as a finalist for the Obama Administration's "Race to the Top" Education Fund. In all, the program will allocate $4-billion to states to further education reform. null
