Master Plan for Atlanta's Poncey-Highlands Neighborhood Unveiled
(2009-11-19)
(WABE) - On Wednesday evening, Atlanta City Councilmember Kwanza Hall joined Poncey-Highlands community leaders in the unveiling of the neighborhood's new master plan.
Philip Graitcer has this report.

For the past year, residents and businesses in the Poncey-Highlands
neighborhood along Ponce de Leon Avenue have been meeting to develop a
master plan that envisions what they want their neighborhood to look
like in the future.

For City Councilmember Hall, the plan not only helps chart future
development, but builds community.

"These kinds of plans and endeavors and activities help to bring people
together. I think this we thing has really shown itself through the
master planning process in Poncey-Highlands," said Hall.

The new plan calls for improved pedestrian access, traffic calming,
and preserves the neighborhood's unique mix of retail and residential
areas.

In December, members of the Poncey-Higlands Neighborhood Association
will vote for final approval of the plan.
