Journalists Honor Freedom Riders WASHINGTON, DC (wdetfm) - In 1961, a group of blacks and whites boarded bused to challenge the established order...of the Jim Crow South. Their trips became known as "Freedom Rides"...and became part of the patchwork of Civil Rights history in this country. A multi-racial group of journalists is honoring the original riders by traveling some of those same routes. Their goal is to record memories and accounts of those who lived through those turbulent times. Next Generation Radio's Kristen Currin has more.
