ATLANTA, GA
(wxel) -
Federated Department Stores announced plans to consolidate its Macy's home store operations, including the home departments at Lazarus-Macy's stores, eliminating an undetermined number of jobs nationwide. The home store operations are to be reorganized under a NY-based umbrella group that would be headed by Eric Salus, who currently heads Federated's Bon-Macy's division in Seattle. The move will affect the home departments in more than 425 stores nationwide that carry the Macy's name. In addition to all Lazarus-Macy's, the stores affected include Macy's department stores, Rich's-Macy's, Goldsmith's-Macy's, Bon-Macy's and Burdines-Macy's stores. Bloomingdale's will not be affected. Terry Lundgren, Federated CEO, was quoted as saying the move will provide a more coordinated, centralized approach to home buying, merchandising and marketing to enable the stores to work more effectively with vendors to better edit assortments, secure unique product and introduce newness that will excite customers.
