SouthTrust plans main office for Atlantic Station
The new office building, being developed by AIG Global Real Estate Investment Corp., will be at the entrance to Atlantic Station on the northwest corner of the new 17th Street bridge and Interstate 75/85. The lease will begin April 1, 2004.
Atlanta is home to SouthTrust's Corporate Banking organization as well as SouthTrust's Enterprise Bank organization, the company's management of coordinated sales and marketing in eight of its largest markets.
About 300 SouthTrust employees will occupy 95,000 square feet on the first five floors of the new building. SouthTrust will move banking and administrative staffs to the new building from One Georgia Center. Local executives, retail operations and sales, business and corporate banking, credit, international finance and marketing are among the staff groups that will move to the new offices.
SouthTrust has been busy in the local real estate market recently. In May, the company completed construction of a new data center in Marietta. The new facility will use the latest technology in check-processing and data-processing for its Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina markets, as well as for the bank's newly acquired Virginia markets.
