Buckhead Life eyeing spot at Atlantic Station
Buckhead Life President Pano Karatassos "has spoken with the folks at Atlantic Station and it appears interesting," the spokesperson said. "They've talked, there's some interesting opportunities and that's it for now."
Atlantic Station, scheduled to open in 2003, is a mixed-use retail and residential development on a 140-acre property formerly occupied by the old Atlantic Steel site on Intestates 75 and 85.
TV chef Emeril Lagasse's restaurant chain Emeril's, Johnny Rockets Group Inc. and other restaurants have also expressed interest in the development. No restaurant has finalized plans to open in Atlantic Station, a spokesperson for the development said.
Atlantic Station also will be the location for the $200 million Georgia Aquarium, a 5-million-gallon aquatic attraction set to open in 2005. The Home Depot Inc. (NYSE: HD) founder Bernie Marcus, through his philanthropic entity, the Marcus Foundation, is the Georgia Aquarium's backer.
Buckhead Life is the parent company of, among other eateries, Pano's & Paul's, Chops, Veni Vidi Vici, BluePointe and, most recently Kyma, a Greek restaurant that opened on Piedmont Road in December. © Copyright 2012, WABE
