Atlanta Catholic Archdiocese Rejects President's Birth Control Compromise, But Calls for More Talks: A Conversation with Communications Director Pat Chivers
(2012-02-10)
(WABE) - On Friday, Feb. 10th, President Barack Obama offered a compromise on the birth control mandate in the new health care reform law. It would free church hospitals, etc. from the requirement and shift the bill to insurance companies. The Catholic Church opposes birth control, and said the requirement violated its First Amendment rights as an employer. WABE's Denis O'Hayer got reaction to the President's proposal from Pat Chivers, Communications Director of the Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta. © Copyright 2012, WABE
