APD Hiring "Quality Men and Women."
APD officials say they want "quality" men and women who are up for a challenge.
What does that mean? Spokesman Carlos Campos says candidates need to be strong in every sense of the word: "Physically, mentally, psychologically, and hopefully academically as well."
Campos says many applicants have a college degree; some even hold a master's.
"Chief Turner is very big on officers continuing the education, professionally and academically. We actually pay more for officers who have college degrees," says Campos.
Starting pay ranges from between $36,000 and $41,000, plus benefits, including a pension.
Recruiters expect applicants to be dressed in business attire with a valid photo government-issued ID, and to arrive at police headquarters by 8:00 Monday morning.
