Slain Spelman Student's Parents File Lawsuit Clark Atlanta University
ATLANTA, GA
(WABE) -
Standing before the media and fighting back tears, Constance Franklin describes the last time she spoke to her daughter:
((she was excited about her new car, she was so busy and she was unloading the car))
Two days later Jasmine Lynn was shot and killed when a fight broke out between two groups.
Roderick Edmond is the attorney representing Lynn's parents.
He says there have been many crimes on the campus and additional security measures should have been in place:
((I looked it over and it's significant, multiple violent crimes in that area if not on the campus with all the information this institution had a much much much much heightened responsibility for providing security for the students))
Edmond says monetary compensation is not the main issue for the lawsuit:
((They are devastated and this is about accountability once again we can't go and wreck havic on someone else' lives that's not the way our judicial system is set up the only avenue they have is the legal avenue and with this they want accountability))
Clark Atlanta officials say they have not been served with the lawsuit and would not comment.
