5 year plans shows deficit for Atlanta
Today, they presented a five year financial plan to a city council committee.
WABE's Charles Edwards reports
The plan makes several assumptions. One of them is the recession won't loosen its grip on city tax revenues until mid next year.
If all the predictions hold true, Atlanta's expenses will outpace revenues each year for the next five years. Atlanta City Council member Felicia Moore.
MOORE: "So that means we either going to have to get more revenues or we're going to have to make more service cuts. That is not in conjunction with what people want to hear but that it something that we need to be aware of."
Moore hopes the plan will influence how the next mayor and city council fund Atlanta's budget.
She also hopes candidates will closely look at the plan before making campaign promises.
