Candidates for Atlanta Mayor Address Fire Fighters Union ATLANTA, GA (WABE) - Despite the recent end of police and fire furloughs, there's continuing concern over what local firefighter union head Jim Daws calls severe understaffing.

Tonight, the four frontrunners Lisa Borders, Kaseem Reed, Mary Norwood and Jesse Spikes will have to answer one question how they'll fix the current system.

"The right answer would be coming up with a dedicated revenue source so the department is not constantly busted by the financial crises; that we have the resources to make it through bad budget periods and still have the staffing we need to do the job."

Tonight's forum is only for the local fire fighter's union. The roughly 500 members will vote next month on who they'll endorse in the race.

A full, public debate sponsored by all Atlanta emergency responders is scheduled for July 23rd.
