Emory's Winship Cancer Institute Earns Special Designation
More than a title, the designation brings nearly 4.3-million dollars in research funding over the next three years, says Executive Director Brian Leyland-Jones.
"So as a result, there is not only significant funding associated with this from the government, but it brings us into that club."
That club means Emory also benefits from access to new clinical trials and experimental therapies.
Through collaborations with the Georgia Cancer Coalition and Georgia Research Alliance, residents throughout the state will also benefit from the new designation.
