Expert: McCain's V.P. may help win Georgia
(2008-08-29)
(WABE) - Will Alaska Governor Sarah Palin help or hurt John McCain's chances of winning Georgia in the Presidential race?

An expert says tapping a female running mate may keep the peach state red in November.

University of Georgia political science professor Charles Bullock says Palin is McCain's bait to lure women voters. More specifically, die hard Hilary Clinton supporters still miffed she's not on the Democratic ticket.

Bullock says the strategy is more likely to work on women who will put less emphasis on the issues are more emphasis on making history.

BULLOCK: A person whose eager to see women break through the glass ceiling Hilary Clinton said she put 18 million cracks into might then want to go and vote for Sarah Palin.

McCain may need Hilary supporters if a recent voter survey is any indication. An Insider Advantage poll taken late July shows McCain leading Obama 45 percent to 41 percent. However, that lead is within the poll's margin of error.
