Spelman Voter Registration Drives Democratic Votes
As a new semester begins, young people pile into the student center here at Spelman College. Amid this party-like atmosphere, students are picking up information on various clubs and activities. At the end of the hallway, a line forms. Here, students are gathered around the Young Democrats of America table filling out voter registration cards. Students like Brittani Nolan:
"I'm from Chicago, IL."
She's from Barack Obama's hometown, but says she's moving her vote to Georgia.
"I'm confident he has the state of Illinois since he's from Illinois, so I feel if I vote here in Georgia I can help the state of Georgia out more," Nolan said.
Young Democrats leaders say they'd registered 70 people by mid-afternoon.
Their goal before November: 10,000 new Georgia voters. Jim Burress, WABE News.
