Another Clayton School Board Member Resigns
Johnson says his prior intention to resign was never in writing:
JOHNSON: I had made a public announcement, but I had never tendered the letter. And then as I was preparing to issue the letter to the various individuals, several people approached me in the community and asked that I remain on the board.
This makes Johnson the fifth school board member to resign since SACS, or the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, announced that the district could lose accreditation. SACS will evaluate the schools tomorrow and Friday, and will issue its decision on September first.
Johnson says he had to step down because he supports another former board member, Eddie White, who will testify in the administrative hearing against a current board member. White is expected to claim that board member Sandra Scott slandered him by distributing a letter which alleges he had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a school administrator. © Copyright 2012, WABE

Yesterday, Clayton County School Board member Rod Johnson tendered his resignation for a second, and, he says, final time. It was at a special administrative hearing, where some Clayton residents hope to dislodge remaining school board members for violating state ethics laws.null
