(WABE) - More than 330 planes in Delta's fleet will offer a WiFi connection. Service will begin this fall on its M-D 80 and M-D 90 aircraft, with Delta's Boeing jets coming online by next summer.

Travelers will pay $9.95 for access on flights of less than three hours, and $12.95 for longer legs.

Jack Blumenstein is President and CEO of Aircellm the company that markets the technology. He says onboard broadband will prove to be a cash cow' for Delta.

"They're the kind of revenues...that are a major focal point of airlines as they try to broaden their revenue sources away from simply relying on ticket income and fees," Blumenstein said. He adds that the service is unaffected by weather, but passengers will still have to wait until a plane reaches 10,000 feet to log on.
