King Siblings In Legal Battle over Father's Estate
Dexter chairs the Estate of Martin Luther King, Jr, Inc., a private corporation that controls the rights to his father's intellectual property. Bernice and Martin the third are minority shareholders, but say the directors haven't met in years, and during that time, their brother made decisions without their approval:
CALDWELL: Because Dexter has been in charge of the company and because he's been running the company, he's been doing things without their knowledge, and we're trying to find out what he's done.
Attorney Harmon Caldwell represents Bernice and Martin Luther the III.
The suit states that Dexter wrongfully appropriated assets belonging to the corporation or its shareholders for his own benefit. It also claims that on June 20th, he and the corporation converted, substantial funds from his mother's estate for personal use.
