Embattled Clayton school board loses lawyer
Those are the latest moves involving the county's effort to keep its school system accredited.
Glenn Brock resigned Thursday as the school board's lawyer. He was unavailable for this story. But in newspaper reports, Brock blamed the school board for being deceptive and unethical.
Brock was hired to help the board meet 9 accreditation requirements set by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. With his departure, many hope the board can still meet the September First deadline. David Barton, a Clayton County realtor, has been actively watching the school board.
BARTON: Brock set in motion an action plan and now at this point Hopson can go ahead and move forward with that.
Barton is referring to Dorsey Hopson, the board's other lawyer. Hopson got some help yesterday. The board hired education consultant John Thompson as the school system's temporary superintendent. © Copyright 2012, WABE
