Early voting begins in Georgia
(2008-01-28)
(WABE) - Starting today, Georgians can vote early in the state's Presidential primary. As early voting began, Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin rallied support for Democrat Barack Obama.

At Obama's Atlanta headquarters near the Georgia Dome, supporters shouted the optimistic theme of the Illinois Senator's campaign.

Obama hopes winning South Carolina this weekend will carry over into Georgia. By giving him 55 percent of the vote, South Carolina sent a message to states like Georgia according to Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin.

FRANKLIN: They made it absolutely clear that Barack Obama is the man who can lead this country for the kind of change that will include all of us. (applause) All of us.

Meanwhile, local college students supporting Obama's rival, Democrat Hilary Clinton, announced plans for campus rallies leading up to Georgia's primary. Early voting ends Friday.
