A conversation with Wynton Marsalis about his newly commissioned Blues Symphony. Atlanta, GAThere are few musicians as versatile as trumpeter Wynton Marsalis. He is equally comfortable playing jazz or classical music. He is not only an arts advocate, music educator, and the Artist Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York, Marsalis is also a composer. Excerpts from his Blues Symphony will be performed on November 19th by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. WABE's Lois Reitzes spoke with Wynton Marsalis about the commission and about working with ASO conductor Robert Spano.
