Plans are currently underway for the second annual Happenings at Shelbyville Hill Fest on Saturday, October 19, 2013 in downtown Shelbyville beginning at 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Headlining this year’s festival music stage will be the sounds of both bluegrass and blues featuring a return engagement by The Blake Brothers Bluegrass Band www.theblakebrothers.com plus two new bands, the Texas Olde Tyme Bluegrass Band www.totbgb.com/BandBios.html and Robin and the Bluebirds www.thebluebirds.com, including Grammy nominated acoustic blues guitarist Buddy Flett.
Hosted by The4Factor, this admission-free, family-friendly event held in downtown Shelbyville features something for everyone – Queen of the Hill Pageant & Pumpkin Cooking Contest for young ladies 50 years and up, Classic Car Show, Texas 42 Dominoes Competition, and a new addition to this year’s festival, a Photography Competition for both professional and amateur photographers.
Festival-goers can meet and mingle with talented artisans as they display work ranging from ceramics, wood, leather and metalwork to jewelry, photography, mixed-media art pieces, plus much more. A new booth addition this year will include Antiques and Vintage for anyone wanting display and sell their antiques or repurposed items. The festival will also include a variety of food booths, an old-fashioned cake walk, and a children’s tent area with face painting, pumpkin decorating, bean bag games, and a pumpkin patch.
