Dates and Times:
March 12, 7:00PM-8:00PM; (End time is just a guess)
2011 was the first year of commercially available electric vehicles (EVs) in the U.S. You may have seen some advertisements of the Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf on TV and asked yourself, “How is an EV different from my current vehicle?”

This presentation will provide a general overview of EVs and plug-in hybrid EVs, and discuss the key differences in the performance, cost, and environmental impacts of EVs to those of gasoline vehicles. Michael Kintner-Meyer will discuss the perspectives of EV transportation from national and global perspectives, as well as how the growing electric vehicle fleet could support the integration of renewable energy resources (e.g., wind and solar) with “smart EV charging strategies.” Dr. Kintner-Meyer will bring Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s test vehicle to “live”-demonstrate smart charging strategies for a smarter power grid.
