MANCHESTER – Come see New Hampshire Roller Derby in action at the second set of home games of the league’s season on Saturday, May 3. All of NHRD’s home games are at the JFK Coliseum, 303 Beech St., Manchester. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., with the first hard-hitting game getting underway at 5 p.m. First up, the Seabrook Meltdowns kick off their season against the Granite Skate Troopers, who are looking to rebound after their season opener loss last month to the Nightmares on Elm Street. When these teams last met on the flat track in July of 2013, the Meltdowns topped the Troopers 212-52. Will the Troopers be able to secure their first win in two years? Come to the JFK on May 3 and find out! Then at 7 p.m., the Queen City Cherry Bombs will take on Worcester Roller Derby’s Warriors. The last time these two teams met in June 2013, the Bombs edged out the Warriors, 199-144. So far this season, the Bombs are 0-3 and are hoping their home turf will help them secure their first win. The carnival will be in town the day of the bouts and NHRD has teamed up with the organizers of this event. Anyone who pays carnival admission will get into the rollerderby double header for $5.
Tickets for those without carnival admission are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. As always, children 10 and younger are free. Purchase tickets online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/633194
Our charity partner for this bout is Special Olympics New Hampshire. SONH provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. These individuals are given continued opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. Charity tickets purchased will be given to Special Olympians so that they can attend the double header at no cost and have a special evening with special seating and treats! If you can't make the bout, but would like to help NHRD and our charity partner families, you can purchase a charity ticket online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/633194.
