Go behind the scenes of public radio in this lecture by VPR reporters Charlotte Albright and Betty Smith-Mastaler at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, at the Norwich Public Library, 368 Main Street in Norwich.
Charlotte Albright moved to Vermont from Maine in 2007, after more than a decade of reporting and producing for Maine Public Broadcasting Network. She has also contributed many stories to NPR. Her first project for Vermont Public Radio was a series on farming, followed by frequent freelancing. In January 2012 she joined the VPR staff and now covers the Upper Valley and the Northeast Kingdom.
Betty Smith-Mastaler was and still is VPR's first full time employee, hired in 1976 to handle a variety of administrative aspects. Once the station began broadcasting in 1977, she also served as an on-air host. Comfortable both on air and behind the scenes, Betty produces the VPR commentary series and reports on cultural events across the region. She's based in VPR's Norwich studio.
