"Preserve Me A Seat" chronicles efforts to save historic theaters
In the summer of 2001, Omaha's Indian Hills Theater was slated for demolition. It had closed the previous fall, and Methodist Health System had bought the property to make room for a parking lot. A beginning filmmaker, Jim Fields, decided to try out his newly-purchased camera and get some footage of the last days of the theater. The film, "Preserve Me a Seat," was finished this spring, and debuts this coming week in Grand Island, Lincoln and Omaha:
Grand Theatre in Grand Island
Wednesday, July 26th, 7:30 p.m. at the historic Grand Theatre at 316 West 3rd Street.
Dundee Theatre in Omaha
Thursday, July 27th, 7:00 p.m. at the historic Dundee Theatre, 50th and Dodge Street. Tickets $8.00 at the door.
Mary Riepma Ross Theatre in Lincoln
Friday, July 28th, 7:00 p.m. at the Mary Riepma Ross Theatre at 313 N. 13th Street. Tickets $8.00 at the door. © Copyright 2013, NET Radio
