FEMA storm assistance is available for individuals
(2008-06-25)
(NET Radio) - Federal disaster assistance is available for individuals who suffered losses from severe storms, tornadoes or flooding in 13 Nebraska counties. Mike Sweet is a spokesman for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Sweet says even if an individual has insurance, they should still fill out the FEMA application. "The amount you may get from your settlement may or may not be enough to help you out with your repairs," Sweet said."And if that's the case FEMA may be to help you out." Sweet says assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster. Counties eligible for assistance include Buffalo, Butler, Colfax, Dawson, Douglas, Gage, Hamilton, Jefferson, Kearney, Platte, Richardson, Sarpy and Saunders counties.
