$4 Gas comes to Nebraska
(2008-05-22)
(NET Radio) - Prices at the pump for premium gasoline have hit the four dollar mark at many Nebraska stattions. Auto Club Triple A listed the current statewide average Thursday morning for premium at $3.99 a gallon, unleaded at $3.80 a gallon, and diesel at $4.50 a gallon. That's one to two cents higher a gallon than yesterday's (Wednesday) average prices. As of Thursday morning, Triple A's fuel report showed a gallon of premium unleaded selling for four dollars om Columbus, Kearney, Norfolk, and North Platte. Motorists can find slightly cheaper prices on ethanol-blended gas at most pumps, however ethanol is not as energy efficient as gasoline. Oil prices hit a record above $135 a barrel in Asia before falling back. Supply worries, rising global demand and a slumping dollar are keeping crude futures on an upward track. With gas and oil prices setting new records nearly every day, many analysts are beginning to wonder what might stop prices from rising.
