Foster care system improving, report says
(NET Radio) - A county prosecutor from eastern Nebraska lashed out at Governor Dave Heineman on Monday. He accused the governor of not doing enough to stop the abuse of methamphetamine and other drugs contributing to children in foster care.

Statistics in this story were from a study that looked at 948 children ages 0 to 5 in 2006. The report found that more than 37 percent of those children entered foster care because of parental methamphetamine use, and 23 percent entered the system because of parental alcohol abuse.
