Gay activists hail Iowa same-sex marriage ruling
(NET Radio) - Gay rights supporters in Nebraska says Friday's ruling overturning Iowa's ban on same sex marriage may not last long, but it's an important step.

In fact, the ruling has already been stayed by the same Polk County, Iowa judge who issued it in the first place. Hanson issued a stay of that ruling early this afternoon (Friday). Before that occurred two men requested and received a wedding license and were married by a Des Moines Minister. Polk County is appealing the ruling, and has stopped issuing wedding licenses to same sex couples. In Omaha's gay community, the ruling is seen as victory, but as yet, a small one. Pastor Tom Emmett is the Senior Pastor at the Metropolitan Community Church in Omaha.
