NPPD fluorescent lighting program

The Nebraska Public Power District hopes to save energy and reduce air pollution by offering discounts on compact fluorescent lights, or CFL's. The Utility says CFL's use about 75 percent less energy and last ten times longer than incandescent bulbs. Spokesman Mark Becker says NPPD is working with retail chains to provide discounts on CFL's. The Utility hopes to launch the program in November.
