Nebraska's ACT scores continue inching up
(NET Radio) - Graduating seniors from Nebraska scored an average of 22.1 on the test designed to measure college readiness. That's higher than last year's average for Nebraska of 21.9. It's also higher than the current national average of 21.2. John Moon, an official with the Nebraska Department of Education, says minority students' scores are improving, but there's still more room for growth in that area. Twenty-seven percent of Nebraska students taking the test were considered college-ready in all four categories tested. Those include English, reading, math and science. Overall, 77 percent of Nebraska's 2007 graduates took the test.
