Cattlemen among critics of new ethanol mandates

The Energy bill passed two years ago requires fuel blenders to use 7 and a half billion gallons of renewable fuels, including ethanol, by 2012. But Congress is considering multiplying that requirement up to five times. Ethanol demand has already substantially increased corn prices. Now, the prospect of mandating more demand for it has drawn concern from other corn users. Among the latest of those groups is the Nebraska Cattlemen, whose members use corn as cattle feed.
