Legislature passes water solution
(NET Radio) - Nebraska owes Kansas a lot of water - by some estimates, enough to fill 136-thousand acres with one foot of water. That number is expected to climb if something isn't done soon. The bill approved by legislators sets up a state water fund. It also gives local natural resources districts in the Republican basin authority to raise property taxes, and charge fees on irrigated acres. The local funds would be used to buy bonds to help get water use in balance. © Copyright 2017, NET Radio
