Tax hikes could be cure to water woes
(2007-04-04)
(NET Radio) - The plan is primarily aimed at helping Nebraska get closer to complying with an agreement with Kansas over how the states should share the Republican River. The compromise proposal includes a laundry list of provisions, including some state funding for surface water buyouts in the Republican basin. It also would allow local natural resources districts in the basin to raise property taxes by 10 cents per hundred dollars of valuation, and tax irrigators up to 10 dollars an acres to raise money to help get water use in balance. © Copyright 2017, NET Radio
