Mental health center slated for Omaha
(NET Radio) - The facility represents a move in the state from institutionalized to community-based care, which began with the passage of L-B ten-83 in 2004. That bill called for the closing of the state-run regional healthcare facilities in Norfolk and Hastings, and replacing them with neighborhood care centers. The bill's sponsor, former State Senator Jim Jensen of Omaha, says the center will focus on individual choices without the restrictions seen in state-run centers.
