Animal identification bill considered

Currently, livestock owners can choose whether to register their cattle in a national disease surveillance database. Farmers can choose to register individual cattle or their entire premises. State Senator Cap Dierks of Ewing has introduced a bill that would make it clear the program is voluntary. It would also help cattlemen stop participating in the program if they choose to do so.
