State Fair's location under scrutiny
(NET Radio) - A pair of bills sponsored by State Senator Ron Raikes of Lincoln could affect the future of the state fair. Both bills come from a proposal from a Lincoln group called 2015 Vision. The group wants to move the state fair from just north of downtown to the northeastern edge of the city. One bill, L-B 131, would have the University of Nebraska-Lincoln provide input on plans to use the State Fair property to add new research and technology centers. U-N-L Chancellor Harvey Perlman told the Agriculture Committee that the state fair's current location is preventing the university from growing. He acknowledges that controversy exists about the economic future of the fair, and estimated benefits of changing its location. © Copyright 2017, NET Radio
