Hagel defends Iraq resolution vote
(NET Radio) - Though he initially voted in favor of the war, Hagel has since been an outspoken opponent of how the war has been handled. He's co-sponsored a non-binding Senate resolution opposing President Bush's plan to send more than twenty-one-thousand additional troops to Iraq. But on Monday, Hagel was one of 49 Republicans to vote against allowing the resolution to come up for debate. Hagel said his vote was meant to protest the Democrats blocking other war-related bills from coming to a vote.
